I agree with you about the ending of Death of the Author. I won't give any spoilers to other readers here, but I had a few problems with the novel as a whole. I thought most of the final chapters were great, but they felt jumbled and rushed after so many long sections that needed editing.
I am a super fan for Yellowjackets. I'm rewatching seasons 1&2 in anticipation of s3 on Friday! I'm considering writing some Substack posts about it.
I agree with you! I found it entertaining still but just could not understand some of the pacing decisions. And also love that you are a yellowjackets super fan!! I have to find season 2. I know Carmen Maria machado wrote about it (+ other cannibalism media) a couple of years ago so the market for yellowjackets substacks is definitely there
STOP. “Perfect Marriage Revenge" and "Marry My Husband" are K-Dramas now??????? I was obsessed with the Webtoons. I can't believe this is how I'm finding out lmao.
This girl!! A Galley Queen?! Someone get her on Galley Brag!!!!
i love that you loved Project Hail Mary - that book is the definition of being entertained honestly. such digestible sci-fi. I have seen Confessions around and I have been intrigued so this review deffo confirms my interest! Love anything Irish, as we know - it sounds really good. I am actually interested in the Korea book too bc I know we both have a bit of a desire to really understand more about both countries. The cover is also gorgeous.
Laughed at the duolingo in the Brutalist intermission - ill feedback how I WIN in my own brutalist intermission soon.
ALSO I read somewhere Ryan gosling is doing project Hail Mary and I feel like that adds to the digestible fun aspect of it all !! I’m soooo curious what you think about confessions because it’s doing a lot but Irish lit is Irish lit. Also YES to Korea bc I cannot get enough. I can’t decide if North Korean defector narratives are exploitative or not but I really love them. If you have any other good books on Korean history etc let me know!
Yessss, Diary of A Void!
